Texas Children’s Health Centers rebranded as Specialty Care Clinics

Texas Children’s is focused on bringing quality pediatric health care to patients and families as close to home as possible. That’s why in 2019 the organization rebranded its Health Centers to Specialty Care Clinics.

Located throughout the Greater Houston area, Texas Children’s Specialty Care Clinics provide many of the same pediatric subspecialty services available at Texas Children’s’ three hospitals. Many of the same doctors who treat patients at Texas Children’s Hospital in the Medical Center and at Texas Children’s two community hospitals care for patients at the organization’s specialty care clinics.

“Specialty Care Clinics more accurately describes the services we provide our families in the community,” said Julie Barrett, director of Outpatient and Clinical Support with Texas Children’s Hospital The Woodlands. “This rebranding is better aligned with our goal of providing the right care, at the right time, in the right location.”

Director of Outpatient and Clinical Support at Texas Children’s Hospital West Campus Kara Abrameit agreed and said as Texas Children’s continues to grow in the community and provide exceptional patient care, transitioning from Health Center to Specialty Care clarifies our purpose of creating a healthier future for the children we serve.

“It renews our commitment to providing world class specialty care close to home for our patients,” Abrameit said.

Texas Children’s currently has seven Houston-area Specialty Care Clinics. In October 2018, Texas Children’s opened the first Specialty Care Clinic in Austin. Each location offers different services to accommodate the specific needs identified in the respective communities.
